ATG stands for Adhesive Transfer Gun. ATG tape is a reverse-wound unsupported acrylic transfer tape used in an adhesive transfer gun, also called an ATG dispenser. The dispenser unwinds the liner and applies a strip of adhesive to your target surface. The dispenser ensures that the tape is applied in neat, straight lines. As the tape is applied, the dispenser automatically rewinds the liner internally, enabling the tape to be dispensed without the liner.
ATG Tape Uses
Adhesive transfer gun tape is used extensively in picture framing, crafting, and commercial printing, and its ease of application makes it popular among professional and amateur crafters. ATG tape is double-sided and can bond two items together. It has good adhesion to paper, most plastic films, metals, and foils. As a pressure-sensitive adhesive, it has no carrier and is directly coated onto a release liner. Adhesive transfer tapes are especially suitable where a thin and invisible bond is required. It works best for bonding lightweight materials like paper, cloth, or plastic.
Frequent ATG Tape uses by our customers include:
- Cards, stationery, envelopes, and other paper products
- Retail packaging
- Automotive materials, including noise dampening material in auto engine covers
- UV-coated point-of-purchase display boxes
- Appliances, including aluminum foil in kitchen ovens
- Scrapbooking and photo albums or photo mounting
- Boxing up delicate heirlooms like wedding dresses or christening gowns
- Posters, presentations, and science fair projects
- Adhesion of plastic or metal foils

Tape Jungle ATG Tape
Tape Jungle carries three types of ATG tape, all resistant to ultraviolet light so they won't degrade from exposure to sunlight. Tape Jungle only stocks high-quality, acid-free ATG tape. This is important because paper is susceptible to the acid typically found in adhesives. If acidic tapes are applied to paper, the paper will quickly degrade and turn discolored. Always use acid-free ATG tape on any paper item that you intend to preserve, such as family photos or important documents.
Standard ATG Tape #56720
Standard ATG tape is the industry standard for scrapbooking and is a great general-purpose bonding agent for printers and framers. It is pure adhesive, similar to double-sided tape, and it is reverse-wound on a 1-inch plastic core for easy application. When you apply it with an ATG dispenser, you place the exposed sticky side onto the surface. The dispenser winds up the peel-off portion to expose the adhesive on the other side of the tape so you can stick two items together.
The tape is made with a glass stabilized acrylic that allows for lathe slitting and clean unwinding. You can purchase it in a subpack of 24 rolls, a case of 96 rolls, or any amount in between. Standard ATG tape should be stored in a cool, dry environment to maintain its adhesion.
Professional ATG Tape #56722
Professional ATG tape is excellent for jobs requiring a little more adhesive. It has a higher tack and adhesion than standard tape and works well on thick or heavy materials such as laminated films, invitations, and metal foils. It is resistant to temperatures ranging from -22 degrees Fahrenheit to 230 degrees Fahrenheit. You can save yourself money in the long run by buying in bulk. If you purchase 72 rolls, the price works out to just $2.09 per roll.
Heavy-Duty ATG Tape #56750
Heavy-duty ATG tape is a heavy-duty ATG Tape with quick tack and holding for the more difficult bonding applications. It is made with a sturdy brown siliconized paper liner and has good shear and excellent holding power. It can resist extreme temperatures and ultraviolet light, so it's guaranteed to last a long time. This is the best ATG tape for securing heavy items such as those made of metal or thick plastic. You can purchase the tape in an 18-yard roll or double it for 36 yards.
ATG Dispenser
Keeping the tape in the dispenser protects both sides from outside elements that could damage their stickiness. ATG tape dispensers hold one roll of ATG tape at a time. The tape is threaded through rollers to apply the adhesive and secure the spent liner. The dispensers have a special pin spool that enables application without waste, friction, or effort. With just a touch of the finger triggers, the adhesive transfer gun delivers a quick, controlled application.
Dispensers vary based on the width and length of the tape. Using the right dispenser with the right tape ensures no mess or cleanup afterward. The bond lines are thin, and the adhesive flows into surface irregularities. The clear side lets you see how much tape remains, so you're always ready with tape dispenser refills.
Use the ATG tape dispenser when mounting nameplates, framing pictures, assembling products, designing and packaging prototypes, sealing envelopes, splicing paper webs, and doing general mounting and holding.
