Can be used to temporarily seal small leaks as well
Different Styles of Metalized Tape
There are a multitude of uses for metallized tape, so there are several different types for you to choose from. Below are the most common styles available.
Copper Foil Tape – used to wrap cables to provide them with EMI/RFI shielding, as well as in the assembly and repair of wiring boards, and to repair cables.
Aluminum Foil Tape – used for creating a vapor barrier and providing waterproofing and heat reflection. It's highly malleable, so it will create a tight bond even on irregular surfaces.
Industrial Strength Aluminum Tape – a stronger, more adhesive version of our regular aluminum tape. Can be used at both high and low temperatures without fear of cracking, tearing, or loss of adhesion.
Lead Foil Tape – designed to stick to a wide variety of surfaces, including glass and metal. It's very malleable and can be shaped into intricate patterns without losing its adhesion. Provides shielding from both electromagnetic and radio waves.
Metalized Polyester Film Tape – mirror finish available in 6 different colors. Used in the graphic arts, automotive trim, and electronic appliances.
Polyimide Tape / Kapton Alternative
While not a metalized tape per se, polyimide tape/Kapton alternative tape has many of the properties associated with tapes made of metal. It is able to withstand very high temperatures without tearing or fraying and without losing its adhesion. Polyimide tape is resistant to water, most acids, solvents, and oils. It's used to protect surfaces during soldering and to wrap or fix electrical components that get hot like coils and transformers.
