Transfer Tape from Tape Jungle
AGT transfer tape is a two-sided tape designed to effectively attach two surfaces to each other. It is most often used with an adhesive transfer gun (AGT) which not only dispenses the tape quickly and easily, but also removes the first layer of tape liner to expose the adhesive surface. Once applied, the user only needs to remove the other liner to expose the second adhesive side.
The AGT type of transfer tape should not be confused with one-sided transfer tape, known as adhesive transfer tape. That type is widely used in arts and crafts to transfer images or decals from one surface to another or to laminate paper, Styrofoam or other surfaces.
AGT transfer tape has many applications that require the bonding of one surface to another. Tape Jungle offers both adhesive transfer tape and several types of AGT transfer tape.
Uses of Transfer Tape
AGT Tape – Used for mounting things like name plates, and for the framing of pictures, sealing envelopes, and general purpose holding. Adhesive Transfer Tape – Used to splice together surfaces such as papers and films. The 59" sheets are suitable for laminating paper, fabrics, and foams as well.
Types of Transfer Tape
Standard AGT Tape – this glass stabilized acrylic tape is specifically designed to be used with an AGT. The addition of glass to the acrylic makes this tape easier to dispense. Ultraviolet light has little effect on the adhesion of this tape, so it can be used in areas hit by sunlight. It sticks effectively to most plastics, papers, films, and metals. It is available in 4 sizes: ¼", 3/8”, ½" and ¾". Professional AGT Tape – similar to the standard AGT tape but has stronger adhesion and greater longevity. Available in 2 sizes: ½' and ¾". Heavy Duty AGT Tape – a heavier weight tape than the previous 2, with superior and rapid bonding and increased strength. Available in 3 sizes: ¼", ½" and ¾". Adhesive Transfer Tape – this glass stabilized solvent based acrylic tape is one-sided and clear. It is available in 4 grades, with the lowest being economical but with less strength and bonding ability, and the highest being heavy duty with increased adhesion and strength.
Additional Tools Needed For Transfer Tape
Scissors or other cutting tools are the only thing needed to effectively use the adhesive type of transfer tape. The AGT transfer tapes have been designed to be used with theadhesive transfer gun.
Tape Jungle offers 2 types of AGTs for use with the transfer tapes:
AGT 700 – can be used with tape with up to a 1” core. It features a pin spool which allows use of the complete roll of tape without waste, and an adjustable gear. It weighs less than a pound when fully loaded. 929TR Tape Dispenser – can be used with tapes with a 3” core. Uses trigger action to dispense tape, and winds up removed liner on a spool so it stays out of the user's way.
